Webcam Server Is Back

August 16th, 2010

After being down for most of last week, I have replaced the failed video card. With that taken care of,  the feedercam and the motion snapshots are up and running again. Thanks for visiting, Jim and Susan.

The Wars Resume

August 1st, 2010

You know it is that time of the year when you start to see the hummingbird chases start at the feeders. I had noticed the nectar going down quicker this past couple of weeks. On Saturday, we witnessed fights over the hummingbird feeder on the deck for the first time this season. The owner sometimes “parks” his spunky self on the hanger for the feeder to be a more effective guard. Looking forward to the numbers increasing this month.

Also the Eastern Bluebirds seem to have successfully fledged their most recent brood. If the weather holds up today I will open the nestbox and take a look. They kept reusing the box before I could clean the old nest out. I have a feeling it is getting rather full in there.

While Susan and I were in Tractor Supply a month or so ago, we looked at salt licks for the deer. We found one called “Buck Lickers”. With a name like that we could not pass it up <juvenile snickers>. Anyway, our resident White-tailed Deer found the lick and have been enjoying the little block of minerals. Guess we have added another must have for the yard. Thanks for visiting, Jim

Welcome to WingbarsCafe. The site consists of a webcam focused on a sunflower feeder and blogs posted about bird and other wild animal activity in the yard. Also featured are motion activated snapshots that may give you a chance to get a better look at birds that have been at the feeder.
