The Nestbox

March 28th, 2010

We have had Eastern Bluebirds using the nestbox every season since I put it out several years ago. We had not been able to confirm use so far this year. My wife and I checked it an hour ago and saw a pinestraw nest in it. I just walked by it while doing yard work and had one of the bluebirds launch out of its entrance. Excellent. Maybe our lucky streak will continue. Thanks, Jim

Too Much Activity

It’s going to be a light day on the feeder cam. I have a bunch of power equipment and workers in the backyard. They should finish up tomorrow. Jim

Owl Watch

March 23rd, 2010

My wife sent me this link this afternoon. Don’t know how long it will be available, however it is a live stream of an owl in her nestbox sitting on eggs. Only one hatched egg the last time I checked. Beautiful.

Purple Finch

March 1st, 2010

As much as I prefer warmer weather, I really enjoy the visiting birds of the cooler months the most. I just had a male Purple Finch at the window feeder. I also noticed a Dark-eyed Junco at the feeder cam. Wonderful stuff.
