Indigo Bunting

April 20th, 2009

We saw what will probably be the only Indigo Bunting we will see around the house this year last weekend. It was a beautiful male that was ground feeding on niger seed and some cracked cord.

Bluebird parents at work

April 12th, 2009

Well, it’s confirmed now. We have Eastern Bluebird chicks again. While eating breakfast this morning we noticed both parents running “errands” and carrying out fecal sacs. We have a great view of the entrance to the nestbox from the kitchen dining area and have placed the binoculars accordingly :-)

Also noticed a Yellow-rumped Warbler eating suet this morning. The male American Goldfinches are sporting their beautiful mating season colors. Hummingbirds could start showing up any time now.

Sorry about the complete lack of posts recently. It has been very busy around here and does not look like it will ease up anytime soon. Thanks for visiting, Jim
