Red-shouldered Hawk

November 30th, 2008

Hi All,
It has been very quiet around here this winter. Almost nothing in the way of fall migration was spotted and the birds at the feeders have mostly been the regulars. Today we had a special guest, as a Red-shouldered Hawk plopped down on a branch just outside our fence and watched all of the birds and squirrels. Either it was injured or not in hunting mode as the birds and squirrels paid it no attention. I took a large number of digital and film pictures. The wonderful creature left when our pug decided she had to go outside. If it was injured, it had no problem launching off the branch and darting through the trees. Beautiful.
